Ukraine: Ukraine has collected nearly 178 thousand tons of winter cereals
Ukraine is holding the harvest campaign. As of June 17, farmers of five regions of Ukraine have threshed 176 thousand tons of winter barley. In total, Ukraine has collected nearly 178 thousand tons of winter cereals. It was announced by Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
"The harvest campaign in Ukraine is expanding. Thus, farmers from four southern regions and the Crimea have already started winter grain and leguminous crops collection. In general, farmers have collected 177.8 thousand tons of grain from an area of 79.2 thousand hectares. They are harvesting mostly winter barley now. Farmers have threshed 176 thousand tons of it from an area of 77.2 thousand hectares," said the Minister.
Mykola Prysyazhnyuk has said that this year yield of barley is more (22.8 centners per hectare) against last one (16.4 centners per hectare). It is 27% more. According to the Minister, Southern regions farmers have started winter wheat harvesting. It has already been trashed the first 1.2 thousand tons.
Besides, Mykola Prysyazhnyuk hass stressed that the Ministry of Agriculture is providing a number of special events to prepare for early cereals and legumes harvesting. There is a special Headquarter for Coordination of the harvest in Ukraine. It will work all the harvest to meet the situation at the field.
