Bulgarian producers have expressed their concerns over a recent call by MEPs for a EU-wide ban on the production and sale of foie gras.
The Balkan country is EU's second largest producer of the delicacy, with some 5000 people employed in the sector, according to Dimitar Belorechkov, head of Bulgarian Poultry Breeders Association.

Bulgaria - Meat plant closed

The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency closed a meat processing plant in the town of Silistra after inspectors found 4,200 kg of frozen meat with expiration dates from 2009 and without documentation, according to FOCUS Information Agency.
