Almaty farmers fulfilled the sowing plan of spring cereals by 60%. According to the summary of the regional agricultural department, on April 23, cereal crops covered 122,832 hectares of arable land.

Oilseeds are located on 25.5 thousand hectares, accounting for 17% of the plan. By the way, in comparison to the previous year sowing campaign is going much faster. On the same date in 2012 oilseeds sowing was carried out by only 9%.

Perennials, as of today, cover 10.1 thousand hectares (41% of the plan). Of the planned 31.6 thousand hectares, vegetables are now planted on about 18.1 thousand hectares. Potatoes are planted on 13 thousand hectares, accounting for over 35% of the planned volume.

The region also continues sowing of sugar beet, which currently covers 1.3 thousand hectares.

We remind, sowing wedge in Almaty region in the current year will be about 910.8 thousand hectares.
