USA: AgriTalk and Agri-Pulse team up for the great RFS debate

AgriTalk and Agri-Pulse are teaming up to host a debate on the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), which will be broadcast live - starting at 11:00 EST from the House Agriculture Committee hearing room in 1300 Longworth House Office Building on Thursday, September 12.
The Renewable Fuel Standard, which requires that transportation fuel sold in the United States contain a minimum volume of renewable fuels, has come under attack from a wide variety of organizations this year, with many asking for changes if not outright appeal.

USA: Ag electronics test tool, database will save time for equipment manufacturers

Launch of an ag electronics testing and certification program by the Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation (AEF) will speed up product development for equipment manufacturers.
AEF announced September 5, 2013 that its ag electronics test and certification program is now operational. In addition, AEF said a database containing relevant information about all certified machines and devices is now live.
The new AEF ISOBUS Conformance Test Tool will save time for agricultural equipment manufacturers by allowing registered users to perform internal tests on the compatibility of electronic components during the product development phase.

Romania’s draft bill limiting individuals’ ownership of farmland needs improvements, say farmers

In its current form, the draft bill limiting individuals’ ownership of farmland to 100 hectares will make it harder for Romanian farmers to purchase land rather than discourage foreigners, said Laurentiu Baciu, president of the League of Romanian Farmers’ Associations (LAPAR) during a press conference today.

Russia lifted its ban on Fonterra’s dairy products

Russia has reportedly lifted its ban on Fonterra’s dairy products, now that it has been shown the botulism bacteria incident was a false alarm. However, Fonterra says it has not been officially notified that the ban has ended. Russian media has reported that the country’s consumer rights watchdog has posted a statement on its website saying it has lifted the ban after seeing new test results sent to it by New Zealand’s Ministry for Primary Industries.
