Russia: The Government limits commercial markup on socially important food products by 15%
The government reached a negative decision regarding the proposal to limit the commercial markup on socially important food products by 15%.
In March 2013 representatives of Spravedlivaya Rossiya (SR) party took the lead in the bill introduction.
“It’s not fair when milk purchase price is 12-15 rubles per liter, and a customer price sometimes reaches 75 rubles, what means the trade margin reaches 400%”, - commented A. Belyakov, SR factionary.
The government leaves retailers a right to set prices independently according to the current legislation. Additional interfere with price formation may lead to economic destabilization due to producers and retailers’ economic motivation loss, decline in tax revenues and shortage of goods.
