Russia: Russia planted spring grains throughout over 27.5 mln ha

As of May 29, 2014, agrarians of Russia already planted spring crops throughout the areas of 44.2 mln ha (82.9% of the forecast), an increase of 3.9 mln ha compared with the same date of 2013. In particular, the planted areas of spring grains totaled over 27.5 mln ha (86.2% of the forecast), up 2.7 mln ha compared with the same index of May 29, 2013, declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

It should be noted that agrarians planted spring wheat throughout the general areas of 11.4 mln ha (87.3% of the forecast), up 1.9 mln ha compared with May 29, 2013; spring barley – 7.9 mln ha (90.3% of the forecast), up 0.7 mln ha; maize grain – 2.5 mln ha (96.3% of the forecast), up 201.9 thsd ha.

Also, Russian agrarians continued planting buckwheat and rice – 413.7 thsd ha (37.5% of the forecast), and 172.6 thsd ha (87.1% of the forecast), respectively.

Agrarians planted sunflower seed throughout 6.5 mln ha (92.5%), spring rapeseed - 858.5 thsd ha (78.7%), soybeans – 1.3 mln ha (74.7%).
