Kazakhstan: Winemaking is a new budding industry in the South Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev has visited Saryagash vineyards and Caspian Foods LLP wine maker in the South Kazakhstan region, said the press service of the head of state.
The Head of State noted that when visiting a winery in France a few years ago he set target to learn from French experience and start up winemaking projects in Kazakhstan.
This year the new vineyards planted on the designated areas in the southern Kazakhstan have yielded the first wine harvest. The newly-built winery with the capacity of 2-million liters a year is designed to produce Europe quality wine, he said.
The south of the country is building a new sector of quality wine production.
Saryagash district is a home to 4 wineries with a total capacity 33,000 tons of wine material a year including 3,000 produced by Caspian Food LLP. The vineyards are planted on 222 hectares, of which 123 hectares are productive.
