Moldova: Three from 10 agricultural cooperatives, created this year, will receive investments worth about 20 million lei
According to the Agency of interventions and payments in agriculture (AIPA), the funds will be obtained through participation of cooperatives in the Program of the investment grants "Access to markets", implemented by the World Bank project "Competitive agriculture" (MAC-P) in the partnership with the Ministry of agriculture and food industry of Moldova, as well as through their own investments.
All 3 cooperatives from Cahul, Cisisilia and Ialoveni regions noted that the funds are necessary for the purchase of refrigerators for storage of table grapes. Due to refrigerators that can store a large amount of grapes, cooperative farms can avoid intermediaries and can get directly to markets both domestic and foreign ones. It should be noted that the average annual harvest of grapes in cooperatives from Cahul and Ialoveni regions is about 12 tons/ha and from Cisislia region- 20 tons/ha. AIPA notes that applications for taking part in the project "Access to markets" are accepted till June 30 this year. The next selection of farms for participation in the investment program will be held in fall of 2014. In 2015-2017 six qualifying round will be organized. It can be reminded that the budget for the two grant programs of the World Bank project MAC-P makes $10 million. In particular, the budget of the first program of grants to facilitate access to markets is $7 million, and the second program, with a budget of $3 million, is aimed at improving the performance, due to the sustainable land use. The programs will operate 4 years.
