Kazakhstan: Kazakhstan ups grain export - KazStat
In the first quarter of this year Kazakhstan exported 1.315 million tons of wheat, a 39.3 percent increase compared to the same period last year, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported citing the country’s National Statistics Agency.
In monetary terms the wheat export during the period amounted to $305.6 million, a 7.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
In January-March 2014 Kazakhstan also exported 469 thousand tons of wheat and rye flour (a 39.8 percent growth on-year) worth $134 million (an 18.8 percent growth).
In the meantime, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has raised its forecast for Kazakhstan’s wheat exports.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) keeps flat its forecast for Kazakhstan’s wheat harvest for this marketing year (July 2013-June 2014) at the level of 13.94 million tons, the USDA said in its May report.
Kazakhstan’s wheat export forecast rose from 7.5 million tons to 8 million tons.
The USDA forecasts wheat production in Kazakhstan in the next marketing year (July 2014-June 2015) to stand at 14.5 million tons and wheat exports at seven million tons.
In 2013, grain harvest in Kazakhstan amounted to 18.2 million tons, with wheat accounting for 76.5 percent (13.9 million tons).
In the 2013-2014 marketing year, Kazakhstan has exported 7.3 million tons of wheat.
The Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture expects that Kazakhstan will export nine million tons of wheat in the current marketing year that ends on June 30.
