Moldova and Ukraine to introduce amendments to the intergovernmental agreement regulating railroad transportation
The government decided to enter the talks on the draft protocol on the amendments which will stipulate the simplified customs treatment for Moldova trains that have to cross the frontier of Ukraine while running domestic routes in the south of Moldova.
Moldova and Ukraine reciprocally lift the requirement of mandatory customs and frontier control for such trains. The clearance of Moldovan cargo and passenger trains circulating between Giurgiulesti and Basarabeasca and crossing three Ukrainian customs checkpoints will be simplified. This was arranged earlier at talks between the Minister of Transport of Moldova and Ukrainian authorities. Up to date, Moldova trains circulating through the southern regions of Moldova have had to cross three customs points and have been 6 times checked by Ukrainian customs officers, which has taken a lot of time and has cost a lot for economic agents, Vladimir Cebotari, head of the Moldovan negotiators’ team says.
